Spring Foraging Walk, April 8th, 2023, Hafod Walled Garden, National Trust Hafod Estate, Cwmystwyth

Come and join me for a spring foraging walk around the community gardens based in the original kitchen gardens of the Hafod Estate. We'll walk and talk about foraging & will get to know some of the wilder, weedier plants found within the garden (many of which you may also find throughout Mid Wales and in your own gardens).

The walk is part of an open day being held by the Hafod Walled Garden Group (HWGG) who are keen to show locals and visitors to the area/estate the work we are doing to restore the walled garden into a productive, biodiverse space. Ensuring that the local plant and animal life has a space here is as important as growing food.

The walks will run at 11.30am and 2.30pm.

Refreshments will be available (and may include some of the plants discussed on the walk)

This event is free to attend, but donations are most welcome, with all proceeds going to the Hafod Walled Garden Community Group.

Parking is available on the estate. Please follow the signs for the HWGG Open Day from the car park and/or use the 'What Three Words' link: ///manicured.dramatic.building to find the garden.

About Me

I'm Lara & I live in the hills in Mid Wales.

If you've already checked out my Instagram account you'll already know that I have this thing for herbalism, growing herbs, trees, wanderings in forests, growing our own food, waterfalls & foraging. Oh and I find fungi fascinating too!

In addition to my own garden I am also a member of a community garden that is restoring the original kitchen garden on The Hafod Estate. I think community gardens are a fantastic way to learn and share knowledge about all things gardening. They also provide a whole host of other support and benefits and I thoroughly recommend checking out your local one if you haven't already done so.

When I'm not hanging out with plants I'm lucky enough to be home educating two of my children. I have also been busy studying this past year and have recently finished a herbalism course run by Heartwood Education.
